Sales Engineer

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities

The Sales Engineer’s primary function is to support the sales executives in participation in customer meetings, sales strategy, value-based presentations, and demonstrations, as well as leading proof of concept activities to potential buyers of BST’s solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Learn the BST Enterprise software solution functionality and technical architecture
  • Work with assigned account executives as the point of contact for the presale’s functions.
  • Help account executives drive new business and qualify sales opportunities.
  • Drive presales strategies on complex sales
  • Work with prospects and BST Team to develop winning sales strategies per opportunity.
  • Ability to articulate BST’s value proposition to market
  • Continue to develop product knowledge and industry expertise
  • Record and document all sales activities and contribute to the Sales and Marketing CRM system
  • Stay current and informed on all new product campaigns, understanding their objectives and relevance, communicating to Marketing team and ensuring all involved know the roles they play in making campaigns successful
  • Performs other related duties as directed

Skills & Competencies

Abilities

  • 2+ years (preferred but not required) application software, analytics, database, or Big Data presales experience
  • Strong database skills are a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software architecture including SQL* Server, Windows SharePoint Services, MS Project, MS CRM and basic Windows network OS.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – the ability to articulate a solution’s business value and benefits.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Work as a team player is self-motivated
  • Well-versed in MS Office and Outlook, as well as Internet-based applications
  • Knowledge of Seibel CRM system
  • Passion for and experience with brand management and visual identity standardization
  • Proven history of managing marketing budgets and internal processes with success in illustrating return on investment for marketing budgets
  • Experience working with CRM databases (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
  • Experience working with marketing automation software solutions (i.e., Marketo)
  • Collaborative and creative approach with a distinctly positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork commitment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic

Education or Prior Work Experience

  • Four-year BA/BS degree
  • 0 to 3 years (preferred but not required) application software, analytics, database, or Big Data presales experience
  • Strong database skills are a plus
