Biography

Originally from Havana, Cuba, Carlos A. Baldor Sr. emigrated to the United States with his family in 1960. Once here, he pursued engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earning his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees.

Early in his professional career, Carlos Sr. worked for Bell Telephone Laboratories in the systems and communications field, where he also completed a Graduate Study Program. He went on to join the aerospace programs at Martin Marietta and Honeywell before founding BST Data Systems with two colleagues in 1971. Within a few years, the Baldor family assumed full ownership of the company, and Carlos Sr. and his wife Liana truly embraced it as part of their own growing family.

Carlos Sr.’s passion for engineering and relentless drive to help people became cornerstones of BST’s culture as it evolved into BST Global, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution provider serving the AEC industry. His humble, compassionate and generous spirit made him a truly great leader, and the company flourished under his direction. Carlos Sr. served as president and CEO until his passing in August 2020.

For five decades, Carlos Sr. and Liana worked side-by-side to foster a family culture within the company. Now, to continue that legacy, their sons Javier and Carlos Jr. serve as BST Global’s CEO and president, respectively.
