Arup’s Global Chief Data Officer, Tembi Hommes, sits down with BST Global’s Director, Eileen M. Canady, for a thoughtful discussion about building a sustainable and resilient world through data and artificial intelligence.   

Tembi shares that sustainability is much more than just assessing a project’s carbon footprint. Arup focuses on the people and communities surrounding their projects to ensure they are not negatively impacted by the firm’s work.  

She underscores the importance of data and developing a data strategy that aligns to where you want the business to go — where you want to see efficiencies, productivity, innovations and growth.  

Tembi also mentions how Arup is able to build sustainable projects through technology such as virtual reality (VR) to scan buildings for safety immediately after earthquakes and AI that can assess the overall carbon footprint of Arup designs.
