Tembi Hommes, Global Chief Data Officer at Arup, sits down with BST Global’s Chief Marketing Officer, Eileen M. Canady, to discuss the pace of change in the AEC industry, governance and ethics considerations, employee engagement, evolving client expectations and more.
Tembi shares that Arup has significantly accelerated its digital and data transformation over the past year. The firm’s new strategic direction, “The Future We Choose,” reflects Arup’s commitment to rapid, meaningful change driven by data and technology. She also raves about Arup’s high employee engagement on all things AI. The firm has more than 4,000 employees on Arup’s internal AI platform called AI for Everybody, with a goal to reach 20,000 employees by the end of the year. In addition, Arup is proactively educating its workforce to ensure safe and ethical use of AI technologies.
Tembi and Eileen also discuss client expectations and market pressures, as clients are increasingly demanding faster, cheaper and more predictive AI-enabled solutions. There is also a growing focus on maintenance, sustainability and cost efficiency in long-term infrastructure planning.
