For the first time since 2019, BST Global hosted clients for an in-person users conference on May 16–19. PowerUp 2022 took place at the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater Beach, FL, and was attended by almost 200 BST Global experts, clients and product users from around the world.
The conference kicked off on Monday evening with a welcome reception by the gulf, where attendees and BST Global employees mingled to the sounds of a steel drum at sunset. BST Global Chief Executive Officer Javier A. Baldor and President & Chief Technology Officer Carlos A. Baldor Jr. both addressed the crowd, welcoming everyone back together after three eventful years.
Javier also delivered the opening keynote on Tuesday morning, sharing the stage with Chief Product Officer Debbie Preacher to discuss the state of the AEC industry and BST Global’s vision for the future. Throughout the first full day of the conference, more than 20 informational presentations and 10 hands-on labs were available for attendees to participate in, with several networking opportunities built into the schedule as well. Day 2 closed with our highly anticipated 90-minute Operations Forum, moderated by H2M architects + engineers Chief Financial Officer Greg Smith.
Wednesday morning’s keynote presentation included a client panel discussion, following a heartfelt message from Carlos Jr. about his late father and BST Global founder Carlos A. Baldor Sr.’s legacy. He discussed how Carlos Sr.’s vision, drive and spirit of service are still alive throughout the company, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021.
Day 3 continued with more networking opportunities plus another 18 informational sessions and 9 hands-on labs for attendees to choose from, and wrapped up with “Innovation at the Copacabana.” Formerly known as “Innovation Into the Night,” this casual brainstorm was an opportunity for clients and BST Global experts to enjoy snacks and cocktails by the pool while discussing ideas pertaining to BST Global’s solutions in five specific areas: AI & Analytics; Finance & Accounting; Platform & Integration; Project Delivery; and Release, Infrastructure & Cloud Services. The conversations and ideas from this brainstorm will directly influence the evolution of BST Global’s solutions to better help our clients achieve their project goals.
Bringing a full and productive day to a roaring close, our client appreciation dinner was perfectly paired with a 1920’s-inspired casino night. Attendees donned Gatsby-style outfits, played casino games for door prizes, posed in a vintage car photo booth and danced the night away, making it a party that was truly the bee’s knees.
Thursday morning brought Debbie Preacher back to the keynote stage, along with BST Global Director of Release Management Danielle Paul, to discuss the release roadmap for BST Global solutions over the next two years. The final day of PowerUp 2022 wrapped up with more breakout sessions and hands-on labs as attendees made networking connections and planned to see each other at the next PowerUp conference. We couldn’t be more pleased with what a successful event PowerUp 2022 turned out to be!
